Outside Air
Feel free to link to the following site and see why we do not recommend outside air for our customers systems: http://woodheat.org/outdoor-air-supplies.htmlBurning With Wood
An advanced combustion EPA certified stove produces 2 - 5 grams pf emissions per hour compared with 25 grams or more per hour on older inefficient stove models. Changing out an older model could result in up to 90% reduction in emissions, are more efficient and can save as much as 1/3 wood consumption while generating the same amount of heat!!!One of the most well known information sources in the industry is woodheat.org. For a wealth of information about heating with wood please visit the website www.woodheat.org There are numerous articles designed to educate and inform us about woodburning systems as well as offer tips. We refer to this site all the time and find it to be informative and easy to read!
Chimney Location
Many people are not aware that there could be many problems with exterior chimneys. Even newer homes that are very well insulated can experience problems with poorly designed chimneys. Interior chimneys provide better draft as they have a warmer stack which results in better draft - therefore interior systems will light easier and they also look much more esthestically pleasing than the chimney that runs up the side of the home. You can read an article about the many benefits of a chimney that is well designed at : http://www.woodheat.org/locating-chimney.htmlOther helpful sites for consumers:
